by air, truck, rail and sea, this international membership
organization works to improve the conditions of animal welfare
transportation. Most of the members are airlines and freight
forwarders, but some breeders also belong. They help regulate
the shipment of all types of animals, including domestic,
livestock, lab animals and wildlife. For consumers interested
in shipping animals, this group offers a resource listing
on all their members detailing their animal transportation
specialty.

Feline Refuge is in South Carolina and has been successful
in reducing the stray population by 20,000 cats and kittens
with low cost spay/neuter programs with the help of probono
veterinarian surgery. Currently the Refuge places 250 vaccinated
and sterile animals in loving homes every year. The goal of
the Feline Refuge is to actively demonstrate pet owner responsibility
and to circumvent the cycle of animal abuse and domestic violence
through juvenile and adult self-esteem programs. It is also
our goal to educate and empower caring members of the community
and other animal advocacy organizations with practical overpopulation

AKC's mission is to maintain a registry for purebred dogs
and preserve its integrity; sanction dog events that promote
interest in, and sustain the process of, breeding for type
and function of purebred dogs; protect and assure the continuation
of the sport of purebred dogs. Records the parentage of over
one million dogs annually. Sponsors more than 15,000 dog competitions
each year held by licensed and member clubs.
