Government agencies help people meet
their goals through a huge number and variety of programs
and support. In addition to grants, these include loans, technical
assistance, training grants, research and scholarship funds,
and project grants for specific projects. Each individual
agency offers a wide variety of programs. The largest number
of individual federal grants are for scholarships. Following
that, there is money for fellowships, independent projects
or research and doctoral dissertations.

and regional arts organizations; an arts resource center,
with a listing of NEA publications, information about international
funding opportunities, and a large listing of arts service
organizations in over 20 subject categories; and "arts. community,"
an online NEA publication that contains features such as a
focus on a particular community, a featured artist, a writer’s
