Do you feel like you want to be a bigger
part of your child's classroom environment? Here are some
simple themes and ideas you can introduce to your child's
teacher:
Family Quilt
This project can be displayed and continued in the
classroom all year long. Have each student take a large paper
square home. Have the child and his family decorate the square
with hand-drawn pictures or photographs and various materials.
Join the squares together on a monthly basis and hang in the
classroom.
You can also do this at home with your family
if you are a Home-Schooling Mom or Dad or just someone who's
interested in family crafts and unity! Make birthdays and
anniversaries extra special by adding a piece of the paper
quilt to the wall-and you don't have to be an expert knitter
to do it!
Family Stories
American Education week can be celebrated by sharing
favorite family heritage stories. Have each family member
record a favorite story on cassette-it will be a wonderful
gift in years to come. Share the favorite stories with your
child's class as well.
