organizations and affiliated groups, businesses, unions, foundations,
etc., give special interest or general educational loans to
qualifying students. A few noteworthy ones include:
The Hattie M. Strong
Foundation
which grants interest free loans up to $3,000 to college
students in the Washington, DC area, with one year or less

The Loan Fund for Women
in Engineering Studies
given by the Business and Professional Women's (BPW)
Foundation. Applicant must be a female, US Citizen, and accepted
at an accredited engineering and technology institute. For

The United Methodist
Church Student Loans
given for general studies to eligible members from

Pickett & Hatcher Educational Fund,
which gives loans with preference to liberal arts
majors meeting specific criteria in scholastic ability, financial

The Knights Templar
Educational Foundation.
The loans are available in amounts of $1500.00 per
year with a maximum of $3000.00 per student. There are allowances
to increase the maximum amount under certain circumstances.
The interest rate is 5% simple interest to be charged beginning
90 days after the specified graduation date. Contact your
